Frequently Asked Questions

Why are decorated cookies so expensive?

Decorated sugar cookies are a luxury item.  They take anywhere between 3-5 days to make.  It starts with picking a theme, finding the cutters, ordering cutters if needed, planning a design, making the dough, and cutting and baking the cookies.

Next we make the royal icing and color each bag of individual icing.  Depending on your color scheme and cookie design, this can take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours.

Next we flood (base layer of icing on each cookie).  Each layer has to dry completely before the next layer can be applied.  This can take from 12-24 hours, depending on the humidity level.

Next are all the little details.  All in all, time spent decorating is typically 8-16 hours.  The detailing then has to dry for another 12-24 hours to dry.

Last but definitely not least, packaging your cookies.  Some of you like them to be individually heat sealed...time spent on this obviously varies with how many dozen cookies are ordered.

Your cookies are art.  Each order has a piece of a cookiers heart in them.  We plan, we bake, we create, we design, we sometimes have to scrape them off and start over, just so they are perfect for you.  If we truly charged for our time, sweat, and yes, sometimes tears, no one could ever afford decorated sugar cookies :)  We truly love what we do.

How do I keep my purchases fresh?

When you pick up your order, I will give you instructions on how to store your items.  Decorated sugar cookies should never be refrigerated.  Some cakes, cupcakes, etc do not need to be refrigerated, while some of them do.

Do you offer allergen free items?

While we can bake allergen free items, our kitchen is NOT allergen free.  We cannot guarantee any of our items to be allergen free.  If there is an allergy, we highly suggest that you find an allergen free baker.  The Pies the Limit Bakery LLC will not be held responsible for any adverse reactions in regard to food allergens.

Do you make any vegan items?

We can offer vegan items with some of our baking.  However, the cost will increase as the cost of vegan baking is higher.

Why do you ask for a time for my pick up?

We are a licensed in home caterer.  We do not have "open" hours.  When you give me a time for pick up, we plan our day around you.  That time is reserved specifically for you. We cannot always be available before or after your pickup time.  If you are going to be late or early, we need you to call us to make sure we will be available.  If you are more than 20 minutes late for your pick up, your items will be placed on our front porch for you.

***The Pies the Limit Bakery will not be held responsible for any damage from heat, cold, theft, or any other mishap that may take place when your items are left on my porch for failure to be here at your specific pick up time.

Why do you require prepayment?

Unfortunately, a few have spoiled it for all.  Prepayment is required so that if you fail to pick up your order, we are not taking a loss on your order.  Please see the "no show" section below.

Why won't you make copywrite or trademarked items?

Simple, because it's illegal.  We can do themes and colors to match your party, but if the item you are requesting has a copywrite or trademark, it's off limits.  Here is a link to what a copywrite infringement looks like.

No shows:

If you do not pick up your order, one more pick up time will be scheduled for that specific order.  If you fail to pick up the second time, your order will be canceled, your items will go to a local charity or family in need, and no refunds will be given. We understand that things happen and will do our best to work with you in the case of an emergency!!
